Organization Structure of UWCGO
In order to improve our fundraising efforts and expand the reach of UWCGO, we have created several action groups to focus on various aspects of our mission such as fundraising strategy, publicity, liaising and cooperation with UWC alumni, the HKNC and LPCUWC. Within each action group, there are various committees with focus on different functions. The following chart illustrates the organization structure of UWCGO.
I. Action Groups
The Action Groups play the key role of implementing UWCGO's mission and objectives. We actively encourage graduate members to join one of the Action Groups and become actively involved in achieving each Action Group's objectives through personal actions.
There are currently four Action Groups within UWCGO:
1. External marketing & public relations
(Convenor: Agnes Tsang, LPC96-98)
This group focuses on promoting the UWC Movement and UWC graduate network events in Hong Kong. It's responsible for developing the overall external marketing strategy and coherent UWCGO branding management.
2. Fund raising
(Convenor: Mandy Ho, LPC98-00)
This group focuses on developing fundraising strategy and leading fundraising activities to achieve UWCGO's fundraising targets. It is responsible for setting fundraising targets and facilitating all fundraising efforts by the UWCs.
3. Selection advisory & mentoring
(Convenor: Mandy Ho, LPC98-00)
This group focuses on making recommendations to the UWC Selection Committee on processes, methodologies and membership composition. It will also develop a mentorship program for students and graduates.
4. Alumni & internal communication
(Convenor: Fiona Chung, LPC97-99)
This group focuses on building and fostering relationships among UWC graduates, parents of graduates and sponsors in Hong Kong. It will also leverage its membership database to organize a social and professional support network for UWC alumni in Hong Kong
Action Group convenors take the responsibilities to form the structure of each group, select the key members on his/her executive committee, as well as set up operating targets and budget for the fiscal year. Each Action Group committee members would meet regularly with the Chairperson and the Board to discuss the progress and issues related to the group.
II. Board of Directors
The Board of Directors has the executive power of decision making and strategic planning. The directors are nominated by the Founding Members of UWCGO and elected by all the general Graduate Members. Each director serves a 2-year term and for a maximum of 3 consecutive terms. In order to become a director of UWCGO, a candidate must be nominated by the Founding Members and elected by the general Graduate Membership. Furthermore, a director candidate must either have served as an officer of UWCGO for 2 years or deemed of prominent standing by the Board of Directors.
Currently, there are 5 directors on the Board:
- Tammy Wan, AC81-83
- Francine Kwong, AC85-87
- Kenneth Yeung, AW82-84
- Ying-Hai Xie, LPC92-94 (Chairperson)
